Dunloy Cuchullains GA&CC have commenced on site with the construction of their new "Centre of Excellence". Following confirmation of additional grant assistance from Sport NI the club appointed Dixons Contractors as main contractor for the scheme.
Phase 1 consisting of a 50x25m indoor 3G sports hall and changing/viewing accomodation is expected to be complete in Spring 2010 and will provide the club with facilities to offer all year coaching to its members as well as providing the local community with a much needed venue for wider sporting needs.
Further phases will include the completion of first floor gym facilities and social area, and the construction of an external astroturf, floodlit training area.
Club Chairman Niall McCamphill commented "We are delighted to commence the construction stage as it has taken 4 years development and hard work by a dedicated group of members to secure the funding and push ahead in difficult times.
It would have been the easy option to mothball the project and be over cautious in these times, but the whole club backed the decision to proceed with a revised scheme which we now feel will better meet the clubs needs. We appreciate the continued financial support of local businesses and individuals within a resiliant community.
We are equally delighted that Dixons Contractors have been appointed and that they have shown their committment to the club by winning a very competitive tender process."
